Synopsis: A variation on the classic “locked room” genre mystery, financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and tattooed computer hacker Lisbeth Sander are hired by a member of the powerful Vanger family to investigate the disappearance of niece, who vanished mysteriously from a family owned island. Blomkvist and Sander link the woman’s disappearance to a series of murders that occurred some forty years earlier, and in so doing bring to light some rather horrible skeletons in the family closet. How far will the Vanger family go to keep their family history secret?
“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” is based on a novel of the same title by Stieg Larsson. Larsson’s book is the first book in his Millennium Trilogy, which has become a European publishing phenomenon, selling more than 7 million copies worldwide. Sadly, Larsson hasn’t lived to see the success of his literary offspring. He died shortly after delivering the manuscripts for all three books to his publisher, and before the first in the series was actually published.
